Transphobia within the Labour Party.

Jess Phillips MP has called the demands of Women's Place (a transphobic hate group) "completely reasonable". These demands include excluding trans women from women's domestic violence centres. Phillips was made shadow minister for domestic violence. https://twitter.com/jessphillips/status/931093574011191296?lang=en
Phillips has also consistently left trans women's names off of her annual list of "women murdered by men", and ignores anyone who points this out. She addressed her transphobia during the leadership election by playing the victim in PinkNews. https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2020/01/17/jess-phillips-labour-leadership-transgender-rights-juno-dawson-pinknews-interview/
Jenny Marra, Labour MSP, hosted an event with a transphobic hate group on the Trans Day of Remembrance. This letter from LGBT Labour is worth the read. https://twitter.com/LGBTLabScot/status/1192428681479757824
Jo Stevens MP was promoted by Keir Starmer, despite concerns from trans members regarding a letter where she pitted women's rights against trans rights, advocated for "single sex spaces" and accused trans activists of setting back the debate. https://twitter.com/artofstumbling/status/1237144197783793672
Thangam Debbonaire, promoted by Keir Starmer. Has put trans rights and women's rights in conflict publicly. https://twitter.com/thangammp/status/994153531023200256?lang=en
Rosie Duffield MP, promoted by Keir Starmer. Supported Phillips' comments and said that "wanting single sex spaces is not transphobic". There's quite a bit more about her, if you dig. https://twitter.com/RosieDuffield1/status/1214707945776267265
Laura Pidcock, former MP and close ally to the left of the party, has called for single-sex spaces and blamed the deplatforming of TERFs as part of the reason Labour lost, in an article published by the Tribune. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/nov/23/labour-confused-messages-women-only-spaces-transgender-rights
Richard Burgon MP refused to sign the trans pledges during his deputy leadership campaign, hired Pidcock as his campaign manager and insisted that she was not transphobic - ignoring the worried trans voices within his party. https://divamag.co.uk/2020/02/21/richard-burgon-denies-laura-pidcock-is-transphobic/
Caroline Flint, former MP, and favourite of the right of the party. Publicly stated that trans rights could put little girls in danger. What does this mean, I wonder? https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/caroline-flint-girls-rights-must-not-be-forgotten-in-the-trans-debate-a3696461.html
Emily Thornberry, cabinet minister, denied that organisations such as the LGB Alliance were hate groups while signing the trans pledges. She also gave a very weird interview to Mumsnet about trans dinner ladies, during the leadership campaign. https://twitter.com/EmilyThornberry/status/1227733218494906369
The 2019 Labour manifesto contained a pledge to review single-sex spaces. https://clareflourish.wordpress.com/2019/11/21/labour-manifesto-and-transgender/
Joan Bakewell, Labour peer, supports a letter calling on trans women to be banned from women's changing rooms. https://twitter.com/JDBakewell/status/1263438991774408704
Tom Watson, former Deputy Leader, publicly defends JK Rowling from trans people and allies loudly protesting her open transphobia. https://twitter.com/tom_watson/status/1277350666390900736
In the 2020 leadership election, the only candidate who did not sign the trans pledges won on the first round.
Catherine West MP attended a transphobic event despite protests from trans Labour members. Another Starmer cabinet pick. https://twitter.com/Labour_Trans/status/1276227985901858816
Before he was suspended from Twitter, @/Glinner was followed by A LOT of Labour MPs. This was an account that tweeted nothing but transphobia 24 hours a day. A lot of these are current or former cabinet members, including John McDonnell.
A modern classic. Starmer has ignored cries from trans people within his own party to listen to them. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/labour-stands-back-from-gender-debate-nd730zrnf
So many instances of transphobia (I've barely scratched the surface), and we're not even going in to the membership who see no consequences for transphobia.
Labour used to be seen as the default party for minorities. Not anymore.
