Christian Pulisic: The Emerging Premier League Star [Thread]
There are multiple reasons why Chelsea transferred in Christian Pulisic; the main one being that he's a quality young prospect with a beneficial future at the club.
Christian has a long future at Chelsea & will be a major player in changing the stereotype of American footballers.
Let me start by saying, one of the most promising parts of Lampard being hired as manager is the commitment we are showing by finally bringing in a long-term coach.
Essentially a sign of the club accepting the rebuild process through the use of this young squad and mgmt staff.
With the unfortunate departure of Eden Hazard, this past summer and Christian just being bought, a percentage of the fan base obtained this wishful thinking of Pulisic coming onto the scene and essentially "filling in Hazard's boots".
Trying to compare Hazard when he was 21 on Chelsea to Pulisic at 21 really isn't fair... Or is it?
Here are Hazard and Pulisic's metrics compared within their first respective 20 Premier League matches:

In this piece, we'll be focusing around Pulisic's form since the restart of football. All numbers used in this analysis below go no further than June 17th.

We've picked a pool of 12 Premier League wingers in effort to conduct this analysis, which will stay constant throughout.
First, we will review Pulisic's end product influence within Chelsea's squad throughout the last couple of weeks in league play compared to his competitors. Since the restart, he's been an absolute machine in the final 3rd.
Next, we'll look at comparing the efficiency of CP's dribbling ability with other wing players across the Premier League. Pulisic has been marginally one of the most progressive dribblers in the league averaging 246 meters per 90.
Now shown below, are the same players' passing stats since the restart. Not particularly known for his passing game, CP still ranks towards the median compared to the league's best wingers.
Not included in the visuals shown above are his numbers from our most recent match today vs Crystal Palace.

Christian started while playing all 90 minutes and getting on the score sheet yet again for us. Truly remarkable form he's been in at the most crucial point of the season.
Do I think Christian Pulisic will have a successful career at this club? Of course.
This kid is quickly becoming a Cobham fan-favorite & not only will he be part of our re-build, but will also help bring Chelsea back to the world class pedigree we've been known for.
This will conclude our brief analysis on Christian Pulisic and his journey to football's biggest stage.
