As regards time factor of Nataraja's cosmic Tandava
or Dance, it has not been possible to indicate a
chronological period despite enquiries with the Deekshitars whose forefathers, the three thousand sages, had migrated to Chidambaram (also known as Tillai Vanam or forest).

One indicator is that Adi Sesha(thousand-headed serpent)who provides the comfortable resting place for Maha Vishnu,took the avatara or assumed the shape of sage Patanjali with Maha Vishnu's permission,to witness the Cosmic Dance of Nataraja at Tillai Vanam many thousand years ago

Among the many Panchabhoota kshetras
the one Kshetra as Aakasa Kshetra is known as Chidambaram.
Where the Supreme Lord Ananda Natarajamoorthi with his divine consort Sivakamasundari on his left side is always doing the cosmic Ananda Tandava for blessing his devotees.

THE GREATNESS OF THE SAGES IN
NAIMISARANYA FOREST
This forest was on the slopes of the Himalayan mountain ranges.These sages were engaged in pursuit of liberation Their sole aim was to achieve salvation by practice of yoga, meditation and study of holy books and prayers.

The Arrival of Great Sage Sootaka:
Sage Sootaka was a great Sivay devotee
This great Sage Sootaka came to Naimisaranya and
the Naimisaranya sages then prostrated before the distinguished Sage and requested him to explain the greatness of Pundarikapuram or Chidambara Mahatmyam

His guru,Sage Vyasa, has spoken about the greatness of various epics & as Sage Vyasa's chief disciple,they would like to hear from Sage Sootaka the story of Chidambara Mahatmyam.
Sage Sootaka, after praying to his Guru,
Vyasa, began to relate the greatness of Siva

Sage Sootaka said:
Chidambara Mahatmyam is such that its real greatness cannot be measured by either Veda commentaries or even by a crore of repeated births and deaths.Chidambaram Temple is in Brahma
Swaroopam &constitutes the secret of all Vedas&
Ananda Tandavam of Parama Sivam

Sage Sootaka:The resplendent bright force
or Tejas by which the creator Brahma,the ruler Vishnu function emanates from the eye of the Chidambara temple Chit Sabha,&the Supreme Lord Siva's dance. Near Him is the great goddess witnessing the dance &Continues to bestow on Him Ananda

The goddess is also responsible for bestowing harmony for the creation & the supreme bliss for the rising moon at night.She also bestows her boundless merciful grace to all and is called Sivakamasundari or the Gnana Sakti and she stays on the left side of
Ishwara,the supreme Lord
