A thread of things to consider while professional sports, not just football starts back up here:

I'm no virologist or immunologist, just someone that knows a lot about logistics in pro sports

So many factors to consider that people haven't yet thought/talked about publicly. 1/
Timing of players/staff in a building. This should/will be regulated as the concept of "viral load" will be heavily discussed and utilized. Essentially, increased time around others increases chance of transmission. Time inside the building will be restricted for all
2/
Numbers of people in any given room.

Again combined with spacing to mitigate transmission, this effects meetings, meals, showers, treatment times, lifting sessions, indoor practices, essentially everything.

3/
Will coaches even be in meeting rooms with players?

This concept I have heard floated in some circles that coaches (typically being older & more at risk population with co-morbidities) may not even be in same room with players. All done in same buiding via zoom/etc. Smart.

4/
Personal on field/court item usage.

Towels, water bottles, supplements...

All will need to be individualized/monitored for cross contamination. On larger teams (football), a monumental task in its own right. Expect to see more than ever. Not to mention cleaning process.

5/
Masks worn in building.

Pertinent for teams not utilizing bubble/testing upon entrance or players/staff w/ high risk or compromised immune systems.

This seems like a given with players coming/going from home. Helps transmission both ways.

6/
Travel. Ultimate lockdown mode

Heavily restricted, possibly multiple planes. Zero tolerance in away hotels. Pre-packaged individualized food at away hotel. Heavy cleaning/prep of visiting stadiums. Some serious coordination

7/
Post game testing

Done back at home or before leaving? obviously a big determinant and done ASAP as to separate if positive. Rapid result testing as they come off of field? If positive, does player stay in city or fly/travel on own?

big questions to answer.

8/
So many items requiring not only expert knowledge but expert coordination and logistics and planning.

"The devil is in the details" seems to apply now more than ever.

These items and more are currently being discussed daily, but may not be thought about by the public/media

9/
The take home message is that equipment/medical/ops staffs will work harder this year in sports than ever & anyone else. Truly the people "behind the scenes" are the ones that will contribute the most here with planning and logistics. They should all be recognized as such.
