Most forms of art instruction are about reproducing someone else's approach to art making.

Some art instruction books of this nature are more up front about that.
There's nothing necessarily *wrong* about this. But you should keep it top of mind when you're flipping through tutorials and instruction manuals. Especially when they're regarded as art bibles of a sort.
And hey, if your goal *is* to replicate and emulate an approach to drawing—then GREAT! Because that's really what these manuals are designed to help you do. That's why style guides exist for characters and shows. I've studied a bunch of these at one point or another for work.
Rigorously digesting a bunch of art philosophies is one way at arriving your own philosophy. I'd just caution relying on *one* mode of instruction to build your philosophy on. That's when a philosophy risks becoming a tired crusty old stale dogma. 🥱
