This is correct...

Though N95 masks are better than 90% of the face coverings I see, the “science” doesn’t support effectiveness vs COVID.

If that were the case, our labs dealing with live 🦠 wouldn’t need to go to such lengths for “isolation”.

Don’t get confused when you see these pics of (our friends) the ‘Lab Rats’...

1. This employee (probably 😬) isn’t working w/live virus

2. This booth is ventilated, so air is being drawn in (ie germs don’t escape & enter employees breathing air

3. The mask is prob for QA/QC
The point is, if there is a hazard present, the BOOTH is controlling it - not that surgical mask.

Many times the mask/gloves are as much about QA/QC - ie not contaminating the sample - as it is about reducing a hazard.

All people who actually know “science” understand this.
Someone claims this pic is Wuhan Lab - IDK, but it’s the level of protection you’d expect.

Notice, they aren’t wearing masks... they are completely isolated from the hazards in suits. The blue hoses (in yellow circle) is supplied air.

Also working in a booth (red arrow).
I’m not saying that we should be walking around in bubbles (like the lab rats); I *am* demonstrating that professionals know differently.

If the masks were easy/effective, there’d be no need to go to such great lengths... as supplied air, booths... etc, etc, etc.
@FOOL_NELSON is a Lab Rat (at a ‘prestigious’ research university); idk that he works in this particular arena, but he certainly knows his way around.

I understand that he’s in agreement with me on the masks. 😏
Summary Conclusion:

• The N95 is WAAAY better at protecting you than the face coverings you see being used 90% of ppl

• It’s not effective for protecting you; even if they were, you’d still need a “fit test” for sizing - it’s not magic!

• They’re also a pain in the ass 😂
Pro-Tip: Even if an N95 mask was adequate from protecting you from a hazard... if the employee is required to wear them all the time (and remain sharp/focused), or work in an environment that is strenuous... (N95) is not what they use!

- Bc it adds strain/stress -
You can’t just expect people to go from normal life to taxing their body 8 hours a day and think it’s going to be👌🏼

It’s why the pro’s use PAPRs - higher protection + cool breeze on your face.

It’s common for emergency rooms to have these for pandemic response, btw.
The idea that a Mayor, Gov or County Exec is just making a blanked requirement for masks that won’t work (but will add strain) is just... STUPID!

The added strain IS going to harm people - PERIOD.

@SaintLouCo should know better!
@molmccann - if you know anyone interested in suing over this, the way to do it (best chance for success/impact) is PROBABLY to sue the State/County/City on behalf of their employees (rather than general public).

Bc that is where all the laws apply.

So... sue them for forcing their employees to wear “ineffective ppe”... AND (most likely) not follow the laws doing it.

The logical sequence then becomes “If we cannot enforce this to our own employees, how can we for general public?”
Oh, yeah - @molmccann, shaving is a non-negotiable requirement for masks! 😂

Just you wait until they try to tell all of their employees, including the Muslim employees, that they are required to shave!
