From the 3rd to the 9th century CE, Kanchi was the Capital city of Mighty Pallava Kingdom who ruled thondaimandalam and from 10th to 13th century, it served as the late Chola government headquarters.

This Architectural wonder was built by great ruler Rajasimhan under pallava rule & dedicated to lord Shiva. Consisting of 60 shrines & lion faced pillars attracts tourists from all parts of the world. It inspired raja raja chola to build big temple.
