On @timesradio @JeremyClarkson tells @tnewtondunn that he is for the first time ever open to vote Labour, under @Keir_Starmer.
Mainly cos @BorisJohnson and his govt's handling of Covid seems shambolic.
Clarkson says 'plenty' of 'decent coves' in Labour, including David Blunkett and Jack Straw.
Clarkson says he is not impressed by Starmer's 'Lego hair' or his debating style.
But: "If Boris Johnson proves to be as bad as I suspect he's going to be over the next couple of years...you would be an idiot to say I'll carry on voting Conservative."
And it's this theme of incompetence that is recurrent among those not normally seen as Labour-friendly.
Due to Ofcom rules, @piersmorgan can't reveal how he may/may not vote, but he too is another figure with a big following who has repeatedly attacked govt's handling of Covid
Earlier in the interview Clarkson suggested he was so unimpressed at the govt's handling of covid he'd vote for Starmer "tomorrow".
Both @piersmorgan and @JeremyClarkson have more than 7m followers on Twitter. Of course Twitter is not the same as Britain (as we all know by now), but they have both commanded big TV followings. That's why the govt will be more than a tad concerned.
