I've been thinking about this one for a while now and how to talk about it or if I should just let it go... but I think it really is important to call out people who try to shut up critics through dangerous, aggressive bullying on here... so. A short thread.
Up till relatively recently my parents had a flat in London which was our main family home for about 14 years. It was a great flat but what was unusual about it was the location - a very central area where there is relatively little residential occupation.
Now, I dont know how this information "got out" although I have my theories, more on which later. Anyway I lived with my parents for a while after uni and between that and having friends over to see my parents, etc, a lot of people including some I no longer chill with knew.
I mean to say it's hardly like I live the kind of life where the place I or my parents live is *secret* as such, although it's obviously also not public information. I never thought it would even be a thing I'd need to consider. But of course on this hellsite everything is ammo.
It started maybe 2 years ago, I'd get messages from people or anonymous accounts I dont know just... hinting. Just dropping in the area of where the flat was or a reference to how they knew about it. I got this from a non-London Conservstive Councillor of all things at one point.
Now, in some cases this was clearly meant to discredit any left wing opinions I was putting forward - "you live in x area, this must mean you live x lifestyle, so your opinion on migration/welfare/whatever is invalid" which I dont have to explain why it is a poor argument...
To be clear, I no longer lived there, but my parents did, and regardless of where a person lives, much less where parts of their family do, it shows a real lack of political arguments to start using that to shut up someone who is criticising your political position.
But of course it did shut me up. This would come from nowhere, sometimes even without me having interacted with the accounts ever before even. Sometimes in the middle of an argument, a random account would just throw it in - hey, dont you live on x street? That shuts you up.
I dont want to be too dramatic, in fact I'm writing this as a sort of victory thread because that flat is gone and nothing happened bar some anxiety and some semi-threatening tweets. I was never fully doxxed. It was all "your flat is above this shop" "your flat is on this square"
This came from such disparate people as well. People I'd never met & had no reason to know where my family lived. Political organisational accounts from all over the country... Aaron Bastani, a Tory councillor, Momentum groups...
(do not tag them PLEASE)

It makes me think there was one source who deliberately spread this to intimidate me. I have no proof, just this strong gut feeling. Someone who knew, who is petty cruel & unconcerned for my wellbeing and who meets a lot of different kinds of political people through their job.
I dont know it was them (
hi if you're reading this on your pathetic alt account btw) I'll say no more.
Ends: it is a shitty, incredibly dangerous thing to do to drop hints about where a (female) activist lives in place of debate. Fuck all you who did it. I'm free of you now.

Oh gosh and of COURSE twitter doesnt give a damn. Most of those tweets are still up to my knowledge.
