THREAD:

The irony of it all is that Hachalu was bullish on @AbiyAhmedAli . He publicly criticized the critics of the latter when they started to get chummy with TPLF early on, after they realized Abiy had no reformist or democratic trait.
Hachalu had one main enemy in a Menelik fanatic group led by Eskinder Nega—a bigoted former prisoner, whose life goal is to fight everything Oromo. Hachalu was not a politician; he was a passionate artist and activist.
Politicians are cold and calculated, Hachalu was not. He spoke his mind with no fear.
In his last interview a week before his assassination, Hachalu belittled Menelik II, saying, the African slave entrepreneur rode a donkey until he arrived in Oromo land and stole a horse.
While Nega’s group publicly promoted Menelik, Abiy Ahmed took drastic actions to emulate Menelik himself. @NobelPrize winner’s philosophy is a shallow one, one based on skimming western literatures inapplicable to the realities in Ethiopia.
In an interview before he became a prime minister, Abiy Ahmed plagiarized Henery Kissinger and Russell Brand in one sitting. He does not have an original thought. Of all people, he plagiarized a comedian.
No disrespect to Russell Brand, but a future laureate shouldn’t crib a comedian’s rant.
Abiy had one [original] idea—getting back to the glory of the past. He wants to be Haile Selassie. He wants to be Menelik II. He wants to be a monarch. He is actively working to change the premiership to presidency. He wants to rule forever.
It’s at this time that Hachalu insulted Menelik—Abiy’s idol. Hachalu had more influence over the Oromo youth than Abiy had. I don’t believe Abiy has any influence over any Oromo now—other than his lackeys.
The donkey comment may have triggered two people: Abiy Ahmed and Eskinder Nega. One or both of them killed Hachalu Hundessa.
Abiy is going to blame Hachalu’s assassination on opposition groups, using actors. He was scared of losing election that he postponed.
