CW: suicide

Something didn't sit right with me yesterday, and I'd like to address it.

Sometimes people you don't like will have suicidal ideations, and sometimes they will speak about them. In these moments, attempting to "call their bluff" is the wrong answer 100% of the time.
If you are right and they were lying for attention, you have been unkind to someone who disagrees w you. If you are wrong, you have been unkind at a moment that is very likely a tipping point for that person. The only risk associated with being kind is that they've "tricked" you.
If I have to choose between the possibilities of being kind to someone for no reason or being unkind and contributing to the end of a person's life, the imbalance of these options hardly constitutes being called a "choice".
