I was listening to ‘Pachai Nirame’ (Alaipayuthey, 2000) earlier today. After the song was over, my 8yo son came to me and said “This is my new fav Indian song!” That’s gonna keep me smiling for at least a few weeks. He has good taste in music! 😍 1/3
He said his fav part is when the song *lands* on “Sagiyae” (Saathiya” in Hindi). I love that part too! The song meanders melodically — and magnificently! — for over 2:30 minutes before settling on that emphatic declaration, accompanied by groovy percussion beats. 2/3
Is it just me or does anyone else find it difficult to choose between Sonu Nigam’s ‘Saathiya’ and Hariharan’s ‘Pachai Nirame’? Have you already run a quiz on this, @_viju? 3/3
