Why I love Sonic The Hedgehog.

Characters: Sonic has a large cast brimming with awesome designs and many different awesome personalities. Sonic isn’t another mario, think of it more as a shonen! That is what sonic is. So many awesome characters to see within the series that are so damn like able!
Gameplay: Sonic at its core is a fast paced action platformer, that will either test your reaction time like the boost games, or will have speed be your reward by knowing levels better. Sonic will make you feel like a badass running and speeding through these stages.
Locations: Sonic has some awesome ass locations throughout the series many of which are just so awesome to look at and feel great to run through. It makes you feel a part of this big world, it has this clash of realism and cartoon to make truly memorable locations.
Stories: when the narrative is like sonic 06 or shadow the hedgehog yea.. they don’t work. But when it’s like sonic rush or unleashed or black knight, or the adventure games. The narratives can really shine and show you that sonic is capable of telling pretty cool narratives
With very charming characters, with depth to them. Sonic himself especially shines in these, giving us a hero you really love and wanna root for. He’s a flawed cocky, hero with a good heart.
Comics: the comics only enhance the narrative and explore characters we don’t get to see as much of in the games! Such as Blaze, Silver, or Shadow. You get some really great writing here, with both archie (post reboot) and IDW. If you need a place to start, I suggest
Starting with the IDW comics. There’s only 28 issues so it’s not a long read. The stories feel like your watching a cool action anime, with sweet moments, gut wrenchers, and fantastic art. They really are very good!
Stigma: here’s the thing. Sonic seems to have this stigma, this stereotype that he’s this kiddy franchise, or that has cringe narratives. Now there are some games that do have this issue. However there are a good portion of sonic games with good stories and great gameplay.
Sonic was always meant to be this full package. You got a good story with good gameplay and kickass music. And while the dialogue in the adventure games is horribly voice acted you can see the writing itself is pretty damn good! And especially shines in its gameplay!
Sonic also had cutting edge visuals in unleashed and generations, and past eras for there time too. I mean come on man look at this, I’ll get to recommendations but sonic games always stood out in great visuals.
Conclusion: Sonic is a franchise I hold near and dear to my heart. It has some bad ones in the rough but there’s a lot of great stuff here, I’ll get to recommendations, but that’s why I’m so adamant about getting y’all in my destiny clan to try out more of the series!

Honestly grab all the sonic games on sale right now. The classics, adventure games, boost games.
Sonic has also a rich history of handheld games like the rush titles should check out but we can always discuss that later. For now, get generations and mania!
