I am a 49 year old Commander in the US Navy Reserve. I’ve been married two times and have five children. I’m on twitter, and #miltwitter specifically for fun, esprit de corps, fellowship, learning and of course occasional shitposting.
What I don’t understand is why middle aged and older #miltwitter dudes, single or not single, Reserve, active or former military, officer or enlisted using twitter as a platform for hitting on or grooming women.
What you might think is fun or playful is gross. Always. Most of the folks on here are sharing experiences or posting pictures of them having fun. Many of them, if not all, do not want oversexed men making weird or inappropriate comments made to them about their appearance.
I have a few friends on here who are routinely sent DMs from current and former military weirdos that aren’t welcomed. Why? What makes you think this is Tinder? Or Bumble? Or http://match.com ? Shocker It’s not. Most folks are here to talk....
about their lives or share pain or have fun and that’s great. This is what the forum is for. What it’s not for is the ex PFC to LtCOL (active or reserve) who thinks they can sound sympathetic and
supportive but in the end have alterior motives to normalize their reprehensible behavior. We see you. We all see you. You are routinely talked about and derided in DMs and Zoom chats and in person conversations about what losers you are.
We want our shipmates, fellow solders, airman, marines or coasties feel safe on this platform. This may sound preachy. Good. You know you who you are. Check yourself. Stop being dickheads.

I’m sure I’ll lose folllower but whatever.
