ways to be more eco-friendly: a thread!!
1: make sure you switch off all the lights when you leave a room. by doing this, you'll save much more energy in the long run. also remember to switch off and unplug things from sockets as this will help too
+ adding onto that last one, if you don't have a smart metre already, please get one! they're usually free from your energy provider and they tell you how much you've spent on electricity that day, they also give you an insight into where your energy use is going
2: switch to a bamboo toothbrush. they're about £4-6 but they're super worth it, on average they should last you a year compared to a standard toothbrush, which needs to be changed 4 times a year
3: buy second-hand clothing! buying from fast fashion stores isn't good for the environment and the staff don't get paid enough: some good sites to buy second hand clothes from are depop, shpock, vinted and gumtree
4: make sure to recycle if you're not doing so already but check what you are recycling and if they can be recycled as common things like crisp and sweet packets have to be thrown in a normal bin
5: buy a reusable water bottle if you don't have one already. wilko are selling metal flask bottles for £5 - mine has lasted me for so long and it's really worth the investment instead of buying an 80p bottle of water everyday
6: switch out your lightbulbs for energy saving ones. they're slightly more expensive than than normal ones but it's a really good investment: they're much dimmer than normal lightbulbs but you don't notice it as much when you get used to it and they last twice as long!
