With regards to recent events, I will be writing one Islamic thread a day to spread awareness of Islamic values and teachings.

(at least until I forget about this commitment or get tired of it, because, you know, social media 🥴)

So here is Day 1!
We'll start off small and simple: the term "dawah" (دعوة) is used to describe when a person preaches to/educates another person about Islam.

In a shallow and somewhat joking context amongst Muslims, the term is loosely used when trying to get people to convert to Islam.
While that would be nice, this is not true. The term "dawah" literally means "invitation."

What do you do with an invitation? You can choose to accept it or decline it. But first and foremost, you acknowledge the invitation, similar to when you listen to someone when they speak.
You acknowledge their presence, their words, the lesson they're trying to get across.

What I am doing right now is dawah (or at least an attempt in making dawah).

It is your choice to acknowledge me and read this, and it is your choice to accept or decline what I'm saying.
Again, it would be nice, but I am in no way trying to get people to convert to Islam through preaching. As stated in my first tweet, I am simply doing this to spread awareness of Islamic values and teachings, so that hopefully this lessens the amount of cultural appropriation-
-in the future. Eventually I'll reach a point in the future where I must explain why our architecture is meaningful to us, and why it is offensive for kpop idol groups to be using it in the entertainment industry. But for the public to understand this, I must explain dawah first.
The person preaching does not have to be Muslim, and the person listening doesn't have to be a non-Muslim either. Muslims can give dawah to other Muslims, and non-Muslims can give dawah to other non-Muslims (so long as they are well-educated in Islamic values, Quran, and Sunnah).
...I don't know where to end this 😭 basically dawah is inviting a person to Islam, or even the basic concepts of Islam. And I think on a platform as huge as Twitter, defining dawah is a good way to start in actually making the invitation to Islam and its concepts.
Here is a decent source for more information (which I did not write, credits to Arshul Mohammed for this!)

I am still learning a lot about Islam, and I am human as well--I make mistakes just like anyone else.

(Ayah = sentence, usually in the Quran)

With that said, kindly let me know and correct me if there is something wrong with this thread.

Any good from this thread is from Allah, the Most High and Most Glorified, and any bad that results from this is from me and the devil (Satan).
