At the Market at 25th for the #FreethePeople celebration. Listed below are the demands set by organizers, which haven’t changed since protests started over a month ago.

On June 23, @GovernorVA said they weren’t clear
As people settle in here, a “Free Them All” car rally is happening at the Richmond City Jail to protest police, evictions, mass incarceration and more
In reference to unreleased use-of-force reports and names of police being investigated:

“Why are we asking for the names of people that are killing us?” said an organizer. “That are fighting us and our children and jailing them?”
The march begins to “Black Lives Matter” chants. Mayoral candidate @aerodgers is in the crowd donning a “Thank Black Women” t-shirt in support
Have to head back to the office for a hot second but will be back soon.

Just before I left, I heard someone say “We’re going to center Black joy today.”
Embarrassed to say how long it took me to parallel park but I’m here at Jefferson Park, where the march has settled to dance and hang out.

Fireworks can be seen from a distance
