I am not quite convinced by the argument that Hinduism is "way of life" argument.

Which "way of life" are we talking about?

The way our ancestors lived in villages for thousands of years was quite different from our urban, modern, globalized lives.
Robert De Nobili adopted the way of life of an austere Hindu Sannyasi.

He wore a sacred thread & choti, adopted saffron clothes Became vegetarian, slept on floor. Led life as per Dharmashastras.

Yet, he converted people to Christianity and called Brahmins Evil. Was he a Hindu?
If Hinduism only means "way of life", it ultimately follows that a European Evangelist Christian like Robert De Nobili was ultimately more Hindu than most Hindus of today.

Which is why I believe that "way of life" isn't a very good phrase to define Hinduism
