/10 So, here we are on this Independence Day in America at a time when each of the two political parties which direct the course of our govmt are accusing the other of destroying our freedom and constitution.
/10 Let us stop looking to political parties and propaganda to tell us what to see, hear and believe but instead every individual should use his/her own eyes, ears, and heart.
/10 And if like me, you consider yourself Christian think about what that really means and who you follow. It shouldn’t be Trump or Biden, GOP or Dem. Shouldn’t be your neighbor, pastor or the pope. It should be Jesus. Read His words.
/10 I’m no bible scholar but the Jesus I believe in and the one I read about about tends toward love, mercy, forgiveness, patience and kindness. That’s what I choose to follow. Not arrogance, bullying, self righteousness, deceit, division, and oppression
/10 America is truly an experiment. Sometimes experiments falter and we have to start over and take a look at where we’re heading. It’s not a smooth course and freedom means more than just doing what’s best for you It means compromising to do what’s best for all
/10 Sometimes that will mean trying to consider taking a walk in the other fellow’s shoes instead of demonizing him. Sometimes it will mean wearing a mask because it makes your fellow man more safe. Look at the big picture not just the view outside your window.
/10 We’re not perfect just because we’re the USA. We’re great because we can criticize and change our govmt when it’s not fair for all and not working for us as a nation.
/10 I don’t really know what I’m trying to say here but this Independence Day doesn’t feel like much of a celebration and it’s not because of COVID. It’s because of something deeper than that wrong with our country at this time.
/10 No matter which side you’re on you’ve got to admit we’re not where we need to be. Things seem worse than they have been for a long time. The idea of America is something to be celebrated and searched for. Let’s keep believing and searching.
/10 Don’t celebrate the flag today. Celebrate the spirit and words of the Constitution behind that flag.

A lot of folks have died to keep America free. I guess we’ve still got to figure out as a nation what we want that freedom to look like
