Every year people cherry-pick quotes from black intellectuals of the past like Frederick Douglass to act like what they said back then applies perfectly to today.

'What To The Slave Is The Fourth of July' speech does not apply to modern day black Americans. We aren't slaves.
'What To The Slave Is The Fourth of July' was composed by a former slave who acknowledged the great things the founding fathers have accomplished while also pointing out the hypocrisy in the Declaration of Independence regarding "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Frederick Douglass didn't make a speech saying we shouldn't celebrate #The4thofJuly. The woke mob forgot he said this in the same speech,

"[The Founding Fathers] were statesmen, patriots and heroes, and for the good they did... I will unite with you to honor their memory."
