You know what is interesting to me about the Hamilton blowback. I was never under the impression any of the people in it, maybe short of Eliza and John Laurens were good. Hamilton was prideful and self-interested which was only curbed because his son died as a result of it.
Burr was self-interested and had no ideology short of what got him ahead. I always interpreted the story in addition to the things it said about the conditions that fostered the revolution and parallels to the current fight for justice to be a cautionary tale about self-interest.
That when your social positioning is the biggest priority in the change work, wickedness lies that way. And while not central, that these people all being slavers lies within that. And now I’m realizing people watched this thinking the main characters were heroes?
