In 2005, Warnock became the fifth senior pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA since its founding. This is Martin Luther King’s former Congregation.Reverend Warnock also chaired the New Georgia Project, a nonpartisan organization focused on voter registration.
At Barack Obama’s inauguration in January of 2013, Reverend Warnock delivered the benediction at the public prayer service held at Washington D.C.'s National Cathedral.
