Thomas Sankara is my favourite Marxist-Leninist Revolutionary and here's why:
>Drove out French colonialism
>Vaccinated 2.5 million children
>Planted 10 million trees
>Outlawed forced marriages
>Carried out a national literacy campaign
>Redistributed land
>Established a road and railway construction campaign
>Ensured that every village had a medical dispensary
>Built 350 schools
>Made an improverished nation agriculturally sufficient
>He reduced the salaries of well-off public servants and forbade the use of government chauffeurs and first class airline tickets.
> He spoke in forums like the Organization of African Unity against what he described as neo-colonialist penetration of Africa through Western trade.
> Sankara converted the army's provisioning store into a state-owned supermarket open to everyone (the first supermarket in the country).
> He refused to use the air conditioning in his office on the grounds that such luxury was not available to anyone but a handful of Burkinabés
He was also brilliant musician who wrote and composed the new national anthem of Burkina Faso.
Thomas Sankara was also the author of a very important book “Women's Liberation and the African Freedom Struggle”.
