I would never.

I serached my lineage in ancestry . com and stopped every line when it hit slave owner. https://twitter.com/sixbrownchicks/status/1279382540244127744
Of my 4 lines- dad's mom, dad's dad, mom's mom, mom's dad, 3 of them dead ended at slave owners. The 4th ended after my mom's mom's lineage got into native American, who didn't keep birth records or even report births
Here's my tree. This is a screen shot I took the first time I traveled all the way thru to my dad's mom's line. Peep the the generation all the way to the right.

I blew it up in picture 2. The literally put SLAVE OWNER in parenthesis.
And I remember when I first saw it, i tweeted @Ancestry with the pic w/emojis on it to protect my own info and they were like 'sorry ur having trouble' & asked how long had I been experiencing graphic issues?

Completely lost that I was refering to "SLAVE OWNER" and not emojis.
Also, in regards to the Cartwrights... Ancestry has this thing where people who share people in your tree can email u.

Y'all. The white side of my family reached out and guess what they wanted. TO SHARE A BOOK OF HISTORY ABOUT THE CARTWRIGHTS
THEY THOUGHT I WANTED THE INFORMATION ON MY SLAVE OWNERS' LIVES.
They had a real book. Like a real paper back book that u can buy off Banes and Noble, y'all. And my "cousin" offered it to me for free.
And I flipped through and started digging because I thought maybe the Cartwrights didn't own us, maybe I am a Cartwright and we owned a family and then somewhere down the line someone procreated with someone Black and that's where my lineage crossed from white to Black?????
Like maybe my lineage is white and then we willingly married and mated with Black people and that's how I ended up here right??
WRONG.

Cuz withing THREE minutes of digging, I found a slave bill of sale for my great great grandmother (the slave owner's daughter) where he sold her to another family.

I cried. It hurt.
Ancestry had a scanned copy of the actual slave receipt. It was heavy.
I never responded to my "cousins" and after that when I came across the other 2 'Slave Owner' dead ends, I didn't do any digging. I assumed the same for them too.
I do know the Cartwrights traced theirs to Germany, all the way from their begining.

Must be nice to know what country your ancestors are from without having to sell your DNA to a company $150
