Over the years, due to natural and human negligence the temple got depleted and left in shambles. It was in 2015, my father-in-Law & family formed a committee with the help of local villagers & renovation work started to reconstruct the temple structure.

On 10.06.2016 the Maha Kumbabhishekham was performed in a grand manner and on 31.07.2016 Andalabhishekham was performed.

Gods (Nardhana Ganapathi, Dakshinamoorthi, Maha Vishnu, Brahma, Durga are present around the Mahalingeshwarar Sanctum; Brahmi, Vaishnavi, Chamundi are present in the Maa Durga Sanctum)

During the reign of Pallavas in the 9th Century, then the new building of bricks was used to build this temple. The reign of Pallava dynasty and then the Chola dynasty took over the reins of the temple in the 11th century

It seems that a heavy flood on the river Cheyyar has damaged the temple then. Taking advantage of the situation, Samanites damaged the temple further and ransacked its wealth leaving only Mahalingeshwarar and Sundaragujambal behind.
