It’s been a tough few months for us all, but as I’ve been in the pub for over 4 hours now (
) and lockdown is gradually lifting, I thought everyone might enjoy a lockdown top ten (it may be more than ten) happy highlights of this very strange time. [thread]

2. Takeaways and Hush loungewear. Basically the only things, aside from books, I’ve spent money on. These trousers are my fave Hush loungewear and I have basically worn them for 3 months.
3. The big Sopranos re-watch. Started at the beginning of lockdown, finished a couple of weeks ago and my Paulie Gaultieri hairdo is almost complete. Still the very best there is. (The show, not my hair, which is far from the best).
4. Sparkly drinks in the garden which taste especially good at 7.30pm on a Friday (and also with a book).
5. My kids’ five-year age gap.
All the annoying instances of people saying ‘aren’t you worried they won’t have anything in common?’ erased in an instant on the night Boris announced which years would be going back to school first.

6. Internet lolz. Not since the early days of email have so many jokes been sent round by so many people in need of so much cheering up. A few faves here.
10. @ArtforKidsHub on YouTube. Has kept the 5-year-old permanently busy and therefore kept me sane.
11. Magwitch. It’s been a golden era for pets. Here he is social distancing while his chubbier ginger mate tries to persuade him to break lockdown.
12. Becoming MD of the company I love, which I did not imagine I would be doing during a pandemic with two kids in the house. But ‘what you gonna do?’ as my mafia TV friends would say. Still a huge honour to publish these books, and work with this amazing team and authors.
