A lot of the replies to this are saying teams from the 21st century, United’s treble winners went over 30 games undefeated after January if I’m correct. That’s absolutely nuts. An unbeaten streak that can’t be manufactured or protected, on all fronts, in the run in. https://twitter.com/evertxn/status/1278800513220456448
I get that people are talking league only but I find that entire debate silly. There’s four competitions. The league becomes more of an opportunity for rotation during the CL knockouts for example. More dropped points and lesser performances. Lesser team? Of course not.
Easy to praise the Arsenal invincibles, but they lost 6 or 7 games that year. United lost 3 or 4 in 99 whilst winning it all. Arsenal played for draws to manufacture that streak. This Liverpool team while they may be getting a record point total, were pitiful in all cups.
United in 98/99 lost their 4th (5th including the Charity Shield) and final game to Boro on December 19th. 33 games without loss later, they’d won it all. 33 games undefeated stretching back to before Christmas, in all competitions. Get out of here with your invincibles shite.
Dec 20th to May 26th:

In the FA Cup United played Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Boro, Newcastle and Fulham.

In the CL United played Bayern, Juve and Inter, plus Bayern and Barca in the groups.

In the PL United played everyone in the 20 game unbeaten run.

Not a *single* loss.
