one of my favorite post-Prop 10 moments was meeting mobile home residents in places like Pacoima & Yucaipa who didn’t have local support networks but took matters into their own hands and organized for 10. not that different from team Bernie organizing inland during the primary
the displacement crisis is changing the dynamic of cities vs suburbs vs exurbs. and that’s for a shitty reason, but we have to break out of the model that CA big cities are the only place where “progressive” policies hold sway. the geography of the working class is changing
that’s also why Tenants Together’s organizing has also shifted to Contra Costa, San Bernardino, the Central Valley, even Orange County.
