Some of you all stan Natalie Portman so hard but in 2012 we were at a mutual friend’s wedding & I had just become disabled—it was my first event in ages & I was struggling. At one point I could barely stand & no one was helping me & I looked over & Natalie & her bf were pointing.
I pretended like I did not notice the way you do with celebs but I fell & they KEPT staring & at one point Natalie laughed. It was so blatant. I was so embarrassed, at this fancy Hollywood event, struggling.

This is all I think when I see your girl trying so hard to be woke.
I cried on the ride home & that is one of the last weddings (if not THE last?) I went to. Casual ableism like that in a setting where you cannot object or else you ruin the event is not for me.
She is an absolute nasty mean girl & the last time I told this story anothet woman told me a story of her being so brutal to her. I cannot tell her story but yeah some of these cutesy goodgirl celebs are the worst.
She will never apologize to me because I will never exist to her. She prob will say she doesn’t remember. She might not. This type of behavior is prob something she barely thinks about. But I had worked so hard to show up that day & this really scarred me.
I mean I am fine now, but please stop worshipping celebs. They are the most protected people in the world. They are treated so delicately & yet they are so entitled.
I bring this up mainly because I have been thinking of disability and ableism a lot and so many of you think things are “no big deal.” But maybe you have never dealt with your body breaking down in ways you don’t even understand in public, without anyone to support you.
Hollywood by definition is ableist. They present “perfect bodies” and “idea humans” and that’s how the money is made. I don’t think many of these celebs even know what real people are like after a while, their lives are so obscenely curated.

Let’s start celebrating & championing regular people who don’t have giant PR machines behind them. I am just extremely over celebrity culture after many years actually of reporting on celebs & celeb culture.
