so i've been watching youtube videos lately about youtube analytics and I find this stuff interesting to look at so here is a little thread of stuff I have found about ASTRO's youtube channel
the site i'm looking at is https://socialblade.com/youtube/  if you want to take a look !

ALSO I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR that all of this should be taken pretty lightly, the site itself isn't perfect.
This graph is of ASTRO's video views from June 2019 to June 2020. The first small peak is the week of Blue Flame, the second tiny peak is the week of One & Only, and the third giant peak is for Gateway.
There is a pretty massive spike between views from Blue Flame and views from Gateway! I think it shows how much the fandom grew in between those two periods ^^
These are graphs of ASTRO's monthly gained views & subscribers from September 2017 to June 2020. (this is not total, but rather the increases)
I think this helps to show just how much ASTRO has grown. The video views in Nov. 2017 (Dream Part 2) is pretty similar to the views they got in July 2018 (Rise Up). In Jan. 2019 (All Light) it increased slightly. In Nov.2019 (Blue Flame) it increased a little bit more.
But in May 2020 (Gateway), the views ASTRO was gaining monthly increased by a lot.

In Nov. 2019 ASTRO got 11,330,690 views
In May 2020 ASTRO got 24,075,491 views

In Gateway era, the channel received *double* the amount of views it got in Blue Flame.
Of course, Blue Flame was released at the end of November and Gateway was released at the beginning of May
Here is the graph for subscribers gained from September 2017 to June 2020

Ever since July 2018 (Rise Up), ASTRO has been gaining a minimum of 50,000 subs per month. Also, the amount of subs ASTRO gained in Jan. 2019 (All Light) is almost equal to the gain in May 2020 (Gateway)
Here is the same data for views and subscribers gained, but on a weekly scale instead of monthly.
They also give predictions for future view & subscriber amounts!! Based on the current data for their channel, this site estimates that they will reach 3M subscribers before 2021!
CPM (Cost per mille) - estimate for how much a video makes per 1000 AD views, if the video is monetized.

However, YT receives 45% of a channel's CPM, and the channel receives the other 55%.

This is known as RPM (Revenue per mille), or revenue a video makes per 1000 AD views.
The site uses an estimated CPM of 0.25 to 4.00 USD
Based on the above CPM, the RPM is 0.14 to 2.20 USD

Using these values, this is what the site estimates ASTRO is earning from their channel. However, the chances of this being really accurate isn't too high.
This is because CPM rates can really vary per video. Here is a screenshot of CPM rates from one of the youtubers I was watching. As you can see, their CPM rates really varied, with one viewed getting $28 per 1000 AD views, and another getting only $3 per 1000 AD views.
Here are ASTRO's most viewed videos. I don't see Hide and Seek, Breathless, or Confession MVs on here so IDK how accurate it really is
All videos listed had a rating of 99% or higher. This is the ratio of likes to dislikes on a video! The most public of the videos (the ones non fans are likely to watch) had the lowest ratings. i think almost all (if not all) videos on ASTRO's channel have a rating of 99%+.
This list was titled "most relevant"

It doesn't explain what exactly that means, but I am going to guess that it means the videos that non-subscribers are most likely to be recommended/watching when watching ASTRO content.
Back to the topic of ASTRO's earnings from their channel, I've done a little bit more research. I know we often hear 'don't skip the ads!' when watching ASTRO's videos, so I wanted to give some further explanation to encourage you to not skip ads in order to help them earn ^^
Youtube only actually pays channels for "Monetized Views". This is based on the number of Ad views and Ad clicks, not the number of views the video got. If you skip an Ad, it will not count as an Ad view.
The amount youtube pays per Monetized View is also not the same for views from all countries. The current highest Monetized View worth is from the UAE and US. This is because viewers from these areas are more likely to actually purchase whatever is being advertised.
Here are some of the other countries that youtube places higher Monetized View worth on:

Canada
Australia
New Zealand
UK
Austria
Germany
Switzerland

^ YT is willing to pay creators more for views from these countries bc it believes these countries are most likely to buy stuff
There is a type of ad that runs from six to 30 seconds in length, all of which are skippable after six seconds. These ads don’t need to be completed for the channel to earn money. It pays once 30 seconds worth of their ads have been watched total.
For this type of ad, if you see the ad 3 times and only watch 10 seconds each time, then after your 3rd watch it will pay the channel.
In summary, to help ASTRO make money on their youtube channel, watch and/or click ads on their videos, /especially/ if you are from UAE, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Austria, Germany, or Switzerland.
I don't know for sure if it would work, but maybe using a VPN for the US could increase their ad revenue ?
