WotC is bad but so is DTRPG, and DMs Guild is owned by the latter in service of the former, so moving from DMG to DTRPG isn’t the Big Fuck You that people think it is.

But maybe we’re not ready for that discussion yet.
All, 100%, of the current storefronts are owned by cishet white men.

But maybe we’re not ready for that discussion yet either.
And they own the marketplace, they just let us rent a stall.

Until that paradigm changes, don’t expect more than table scraps.

Maybe we’re ready for that discussion? Idk. Just looking at the industry from the outside.
When I say “we don’t need their industry, we can build a better one” I’m not speaking in hyperbole. I mean literally, the industry that they built isn’t one we should want. We can, and should, build something better. From the ground up if we have to.
I’ve said a few times in private that I don’t want to take over markets. I don’t want to conquer spaces. I don’t want throngs of consumers flocking to buy my wares instead of everybody else’s.

I don’t want to compete. I don’t like the feeling competition gives me. Do Not Want.
What I want is to make it easier for other people to thrive and create the kind of art they want.

That’s why I do templates. That’s why I do tutorials. (That’s why you’re gonna want to back this Kickstarter holy shit you have no idea what’s coming)
We can do tabletop without the competition. But we need a groundswell of people willing to make that shift. If we don’t have that, the movement will last a week or two and then
I don’t want that reset. I want a new industry that encourages us to celebrate each other, that helps people find the games that are right for them, that helps us all get paid what we need to survive and thrive.
So how do we do it? I’ve got some ideas, and some Big ideas.

What are yours?
