MY “ULTIMATE” EARL SWEATSHIRT THREAD!
RANKING 7 PROJECTS & 139 SONGS!
Even if I don’t tend to mention him as my all-time favorite, @earlxsweat’s music has meant more to me on a deeper (and) emotional level than any other music - only El-P comes close.
100% BIASED!

I will NOT rank:
- The ‘Nowhere, Nobody’ short movie.
- His production discography. With that said, his work done under the moniker randomblackdude is some of the best out there. Huge fan of him as a producer.

Not sure who to give shout outs to beyond Odd Future. But I’m giving one to Na-Kel for giving Earl a boost when his confidence needs it, so I love him. And one to Stoney Willis as well, for joining his best tour yet.
I also feel the need to mention Keorapetse Kgositsile, an incredible and important poet, as well as Hugh Masekela, whose music I’ve completely fallen in love with lately.
Rest in peace.
Rest in peace.

No matter my nostalgia and how important this mixtape is in the discography, arguably music history, this is the project I enjoy the least from him. It shows his skills, especially for his age, but the edgy topics limits him, and sounds more like Tyler’s vision than Earl’s.

While Earl’s earliest work would never have taken off today, his taste in beats and wild skills for his age is too noteworthy for me not to enjoy it. It carries a very unique vibe, even if the writing aims to impress rather than tell you anything.

An enjoyable, but inconsistent project that switches between sounding like a GarageBand mixtape, a studio project, and what ‘EARL’ should’ve been. Earl’s lyricism remains impressive, but the performances suffer from an artist yet to find his style. Best when personal.

While FoC’s aim to capture personal moments in time doesn’t fully succeed, it’s quotable AF, with memorable sounds. But some of the best stories on here unfortunately has to be backed up by comments made outside of the album to make sense, and feels a bit like a B-sides album

Capturing a grim state like this while still making great and enjoyable songs is a really impressive feat. This is the project where Earl truly crafted, or unleashed his completely unique musical personality. It’s eerie, powerful, but weirdly empowering.

SRS is haunted by uncertainty, which turns into its main strength. It's like a rollercoaster you’re too numb to fully experience, though you sense the movement. SRS feels ALIVE to me - with stories and sound affected by real event, and a lack of answers, but tons of ideas.

My favorite project of all time. This project means the world to me.
You’ve heard the cliché “it’s a mood”? This really is.
Nothing sounds or FEELS like this - not outside of music either. I can’t describe it. It’s almost too overwhelming for me to return to often.

139 SONGS RANKED
First of all; List of songs I saw mentioned, but either couldn’t find, or that were just LIVE performances given wrong titles.

If you read through all of this; thank you so much. Hope the ranking didn’t upset you too much.
