No disrespect to Jeffrey Page, I am sure he is great, but one of the primary reasons the theater community in Philadelphia feels alienated from PTC is they *always* seem to hire from NYC when there is so much local talent and expertise based right here? https://twitter.com/WHYYNews/status/1278818231722094592
Like, could you honestly not even find someone right here, right now to work with you on this issue in a city that is 44.1% Black? Because I know plenty of Black Philadelphia theater artists that are living on the edge or giving up because they can't get opportunities like this.
Local Black artists who have been doing this work for DECADES and are INCREDIBLE and @PhilaTheatreCo and others will never give them the same respect or chances they give white artists or people who live in NYC. You shouldn't be allowed to put "Philadelphia" in your name.
You want to connect with the community, @PhilaTheatreCo? Maybe consider becoming part of the city (the whole city, including artists of color who live and work here) rather than Off-Broadway on Broad.
You can follow @mormolyke.
