Yesterday, 313,483 people had tested positive for the coronavirus, according to @DHSCgovuk official report.

Today, that number was just 283,757!

That's right: they wiped out almost 30,000 positive cases in a single day.

How badly must they be messing their stats-keeping up?!
There is a "my dog ate my homework" level excuse buried in the verbiage of the webpage they use to report their more detailed stats.

But let's be honest, for once. There can be no excuse for overstating the total number of positive cases by almost 10%! https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
Bear in mind that this is a giant error that has been allowed to fester day after day, week after week.

And then by magic, the number drops like a stone just before 4 July Super Saturday (aka Decimation Day)?

Either this is resignation-level incompetence, or a cover-up.
And despite all this numeric sorcery, they still haven't deigned to provide a figure for the actual number of people tested in a day, a stat that has been "temporarily paused" for over 6 weeks now...
