I know this won’t be a popular take- but the NBA is a business like any other business. People want/have to make money. I don’t get why they’re getting hate for doing what virtually every other business in America is doing- reopening and getting back to work.

I will say- it’s lame that Silver and the NBA pretend that money isn’t the driver here. It definitely is. But every other business has reopened for the same reason (money) and they don’t have to answer for it or get hate about it.

Yeah- it’s not essential. Neither are the Foot Lockers or the Sunglass Huts of the world either and they most certainly are not in a bubble and are putting lower wage workers on the frontlines.

It’s a business and businesses are going to do what they can to make money.

(It’s more of an indictment on American capitalism but that’s another topic)

Like yeah this is being done with profits in mind. Everything any business does is with profits in mind! Being shocked or appalled that a business is trying to make money is just weird and feels contrived. It shouldn’t have to be this way, but it’s our reality.
