u know what methinks i got a bone to pick with that most synchronized groups vid. *pick pick pick pick pick pick*
honestly i just dont like ranking videos bc of the discourse that follows in the comments like "where is my fave!" or "x is so underrated im glad they made the list" or whatever the fuck because kpop stans are annoying and ill get into that later. but this one reads a bit dif
1. this is computer-generated. people r gonna use that as a point to say "it's not me saying x is the most in sync! it's a completely objective program!" which is . blegh authority. yeah, sure, synchronized dancing looks really good. u tend to notice when it isnt and it throws u-
-off. i remember first seeing infinite/shinee's performances and thinking "oh wow its more impressive/intense." but if ur gonna nitpick at the percentages, ur not even looking at these dances as art pieces being presented to you, you're just reducing them down to numbers
*shakes fist* the dionysian/apollonian blah blah blah!!art should not be reduced to just percentages what are you even enjoying? ur just waving around a lil number saying your faves are the most talented! shut up and go watch stages or something
whole performances arent supposed to display an artists talents to the fullest, they're meant to convey some kind of message, whether its "its ok to not be the most motivated" or "shake your ass little bitch boy" . yeah showing off might get more recognition but thats the-
business part of it. that's why so what (mm yes unsolicited loona targeting) didnt feel cohesive to me. yes the dance was hard, yes they were in sync, yes they hit notes! that is impressive! but like who else was like "tf" when they started belting "im so bad" like their lives-
-depended on it? it just breaks you out of the moment and in the end they just sounded like mildly aggravated choir children (also w the scale they used w "im so bad" x4). yEah i know they worked really hard, i saw that pic of the bruised leg. that just makes it suck more bc-
it didnt make a cohesive art piece. notice how like every single tweet during so what era was just about "look how talented they are" vs like every single other release where orbits were like "i am actively crying/shaking my ass to this." sw just seemed like them making use of-
-fans' emotional attachment to them. "wow look how far they've come, ability-wise, i must support them in any way possible" that's like the whole business model of kpop? (unless some business insider can tell me otherwise?) and i just *slam* I WANT TO SHAKE MY ASS
and if somnies havent had enough already, i wanna point smth out. dreamcatcher is what?2nd? on the list for synchronization but that doesnt mean their dances are 2nd for enjoyability. i remember watching certain dances and thinking "now WHAT is that move doing there" bc it didnt-
match w the song at all (thats a choreo problem). but i guess rock is a weird genre to choreograph dance to. so this point was just snuck in there.
theres been the point of "fandom culture is toxic and wouldnt be if we would just all keep to our own fandoms" and that is a good point. but even if youre just "vibing to x music and crying" or something like that, you could also be guilty of being annoying af
the reality is ur idols arent the most talented/funny/kind/whatever people in the world. yeah they might be talented/funny/kind, but u shouldnt be putting people on pedestals for just doing their job (im not saying "doing their job" as a bad thing, they can be rlly passionate-
-about entertaining, making people happy, performing, whatever. but in the end, it's something they get **put in masive heaps of debt** paid for, this is their professional lives, none of us r entitled to that 🅱️ersonal bond with them. emotional? sure ig it's art, but they're not
YOURS. theyre not yours. u should be able to take criticism about them (it's not even directed at you??they dont need your "protection" or "defense" bc most of the time people r just giving valid criticism, not slander). dont take this stuff personally
thats why i tend to think "emotional attachment to idols is dangerous" bc idk how well u control your impulses but when i get emotionally attached i get. really annoying and start relying on them for any kind of meaning in my day. it's awful i should be photosynthesizing outside
im going off on a tangent but u know when ppl r like "im valid for having an emotional kpop idol bc im depressed and this is how i cope"? i sound a lot like those "iM dOinG tHiS oUt oF loVe" ppl but genuinely do anything u can to get out of that state of mind
relying on someone that doesnt even know you is such an unhealthy thing to do and if ur relying on that alone, nothings gonna get better. sure maybe ur feeling down and watching a fancam brings u out of ur funk but thats it. dont let it be long term find better things to do
