i mean maybe it doesn't "matter" but if you take it as given that music is good and ur interested in engineering your own stuff then yeah it matters, sorry.

if you have a personal standard in mind for what you want your mix to sound like, literally whatever that standard may be, you will have an easier time of it when you let go of using synth presets exclusively.
using presets is constricting yourself whether u want to sound like deadmau5 or 100 gecs. its not "lazy" and i dont believe art laziness exists, its restrictive.
