In the past, killing a group's reputation and fandom support system worked to weaken them and decrease their selling power. The attacks and rumors are meant to do two things:

(1) Get ARMY to abandon BTS
(2) Get ARMY to declare war on BH
It's usually easy to get #2 because the K-pop industry is so corrupt, people easily believe and expect the worst from a company. Nevermind how aggressive BH is at going against antis who attack BTS and falling on its own sword in the face of rumors rather than throw any-
BTS member under the bus. BTS members, the minute that contract changed, took direct control of their music/creative output. They will probably (I suspect) be MAJOR investors when BH goes public. And if the value stays up...they will make every kind of BANK.

We might get-
"Billionaire Bangtan" at some point. T^T No idea, all I do know is that the moment Big Hit goes public, asses will be owned and potentially in danger of becoming the tuna to BH's shark. After years of trying to ruin BH/BTS, Karma is the ultimate b!tch.
Anyway, constantly trying to spread vicious lies and rumors about BTS is an attempt to get the public and fans to turn on the members and try to cause disruption among the group, company, and fandom.

This "divide and conquer" tactic usually works. ARMY has been a very-
nut to crack because we operate more like a self-operating community than a fandom that waits for word/takes marching orders from BH. Because we think and operate independently and are obsessed with fact-checking, it's harder to get into our collective heads.
Also, BTS has a direct line to our hearts. And wallets. I suspect there will be a lot of weeping the coming months about free content that we don't get to pay for.
