Why Spurs fans shouldn’t slander ENIC[A thread]
A few years ago we were finishing above Liverpool, and everything has done a 360. Liverpool as a Club have had the infrastructure, the reputation and the history so that other areas didn’t require investment outside of the playing team.
I don’t dispute that had we invested we could have got close but we just weren’t a Club that would spend £75m on a CB and GK.
I’m tired of fans who’ve only recently supported spurs and don’t remember when we were a mid table team, or one that was fighting relegation. Everything that has set the club up to succeed had been done by levy
Levy spent Billions on a world class training ground, and a new stadium, leading us to post record profits in 2017, while we played at Wembley.
People hate Levy but in all honesty he has set the Club up to such a position now where we have been able to spend £65m on GLC and TnD in the same window.
Liverpool may have been on par with us on the pitch or even behind for 6/7 years, but off they pitch they have been bigger than us for the past 60 years.
I think we need some perspective. We could’ve gone all out and ended up with a title like Blackburn (look where they are now), or we could put in the building blocks for us to at least compete for the foreseeable, like Chelsea.
This all takes time.
This all takes time.
L.We can only truly judge Levy in another 10 years. This club has had the most organic growth out of any of the top 6. If we reflect 15 years ago, the clubs we were most comparable to in size/stature are Everton, Chelsea and Man City.
One has stayed the same, the other two got oil money. We've never had a huge cash injection, we've rarely gambled on signings and always drove a hard bargain when selling.
This club is where its at right now because of Levys vision, otherwise we'd be in a similar place to Everton or God forbid West Ham.
The good:
•a new stadium
•a new training ground
•taking Spurs from a perennial mid-table club to a regular champions league competitor
•2 distinct periods of quality competition under Redknapp and Poch
•steady growth and financial stability

The bad
•Tactics Tim
•we didn't win a major trophy yet
•a couple of seasons without major expenditure while building a billion dollar state of the art football palace

I'm sure Levy will be perfectly happy to carry the burden of those awful downsides to go with the massive benefits he's brought to the club.
