Students enrolled my fall courses have taken to just emailing me directly to see if I have any idea what’s happening next semester.
Obviously, I don’t have much information but WOW this is a case study how institutions botch communication.
Students are literally trying to figure out if they should rent an apartment in Auburn or quit their hometown jobs. I don’t have the answers but it’s shocking how little care we’ve put into all this.
Right now, the plan is to let students know which, if any, of their courses are online in early August. That’s two weeks before the semester begins!
What if you’ve put a deposit down on an apartment you no longer need? Or worse, discover you have no place to live near campus because you only have 2 weeks’ notice?
