We need to take ideology more seriously. It isnt just window dressing, and it isnt just unquestionable moral axioms. Its the core strategic and structural paradigm of your society. There are better and worse ideologies, not just morally, but in civilizational performance.
In 1600, you could get away with writing off science as just another religious worldview. But by 1900, you lived under the dominion of a scientific power, because science was a more productive worldview.
