The Tunisian flag.
The Tunisian flag resembles the Turkish flag because Tunisia was under Ottoman occupation at the time of developing a flag.
At the Battle of Navarin, A Tunisian ship was shot down while not taking part in the battle.
The Husseinite ruler Hussein II Bey decides to create a flag to be used by the Tunisian fleet, to distinguish it from other fleets, and adds a white disc, in addition to the crescent and the star, symbols already present in Tunisian jewelry, art and architecture.
The flag was formalized in 1837 by Ahmed Ist Bey.

The flag stands out from the Ottomans by the reversal of colors of the crescent is of the star. The position of the emblems is also different.
The flag is defined in Article 4 of the Tunisian constitution in 1959:
"The flag of the Tunisian Republic is red, it contains, under the conditions defined by law, in the middle, a white disc with a five-pointed star surrounded by a red crescent"
The 2014 constitution slightly amends the text:
"The flag of the Tunisian Republic is red, in the middle is a white disc with a red star with five branches surrounded by a red crescent as provided by law"
The flag is shaped like a red rectangle that is 2/3 the width of its length. In the middle of the flag is drawn a white disc whose diameter is equal to one third of the length of the rectangle and whose center is located at the intersection of the diagonals of the rectangle.
In the disc is traced a red star of five branches whose center is located on the horizontal median, to the right of the center of the disc, and at a distance equal to the thirtieth of the length of the flag in the opposite direction to the side attached to the pole.
The ends of the star's branches are determined by an imaginary disk centered on the star' disk, with a diameter equal to 15% of the flag's length.
The branches are equidistant, the end of one of them being located on the horizontal median of the flag, to the left of the center of the disc.
The star is surrounded on the side of the pole by a red crescent formed by the intersection of two arcs, an external arc centered on the disk, and whose diameter is equal to 1/4 of the length of the flag.
And an internal arc centered on the star's, which is about one-fifth the length of the flag.
At the top of the flag intended for the President of the Republic is inscribed in golden characters the expression "for the homeland".
There are two red theorys:
1- The blood of martyrs
2- The red of the beylical flag spreads light on the entire Muslim world.

White symbolizes peace.
The crescent Islam
The star the 5 pillars of Islam
The disk could symbolize the sun.

Moreover for the crescent the Ottoman would have been inspired by Carthage
Today, the Tunisian flag is visible on all public and military buildings. It also floats on the headquarters of regional and international organizations as well as on buildings housing the diplomatic representations of Tunisia.
Tunisian flag is unfurled at national commemorations and honours are given to it according to a specific ceremony. In addition, since September 1989, salute to the national flag has been compulsory in all public and private Tunisian schools.
Finally, any insult to the Tunisian flag is punishable by one year's imprisonment.
