Members of our epilepsy community have expressed concerns about content on knitting & crocheting community Ravelry. From what we understand, Ravelry recently made changes to their user interface which, according to some users, may be affecting people w/photosensitivity. [1/6]
We reached out to Ravelry to alert them to the reports and asked them to take seriously the concerns of people with epilepsy. [2/6]
For about 3 percent of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities, or with certain visual patterns — especially stripes of contrasting colors — can trigger seizures. This condition is known as photosensitive epilepsy. [3/6]
We urge our community, especially those who have been diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy or are sensitive to visual patterns, to be cautious when using Ravelry. [4/6]
If you live w/photosensitive epilepsy or have been affected by the site’s user interface, you may want to consider asking a friend to change the settings on your Ravelry profile so that it reverts the interface to the classic Ravelry settings. [5/6]
