The inspector-in-charge (IIC) of the police station and some other police personnel raped the minor over a period of 4 months, but the IIC was only placed under suspension on June 26.

Reports of another case of sexual violence against a minor emerge from Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. A 7-yr-old Dalit girl was raped and killed by her neighbour after she went missing on June 30. The accused has been arrested.

But a disturbing trend that followed the public uproar is the use of the minor's photos all over social media. This is in violation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Both the public and media shouldn't in any way disclose the identity of a minor rape victim. Social media platforms like @TwitterIndia and @instagram do not seem to be blocking posts that contain images of the minor. Prompt action should be taken to remove the images.
