This is a great position statement from @MRCampaigns on the Facebook ad boycott.
Great because they have spoken to the organisers of the boycott. Who make it clear how they think orgs can get involved. https://www.mrss.com/lab/stop-hate-for-profit

As I'm sure you know Color of Change, a key organiser of the campaign are not pausing ads themselves.
Their position is made clear on their action page. https://colorofchange.org/stop-hate-for-profit/

I'm no defender of FB. Google. Amazon. Twitter. The S*n. Daily Heil, Rupert Murdoch, Fox News Breitbart or... you get my drift.
Maybe instead of an ad pause, the UK charity sector & campaign orgs should be using its voice to LOUDLY & CLEARLY support the aims of the boycott.

And be making a public and long term commitment to support the aims of the campaign and use all its influence help it win.
After all, we are agents of change right?

This from Amnesty is a good read on the subject. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2019/11/we-called-out-facebook-and-google-but-need-them/
As is this from Forward Action: https://forwardaction.uk/2020/06/stophateforprofit/
And this from Branded. https://branded.substack.com/p/you-dont-have-to-join-that-facebook
I stand in awe of the campaign cos in a few weeks it's mobilised loads of big budget corporate brands to join the pause, which has raised the profile of the issue & wiped billions off the FB stock price. https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/facebook-stock-price-reaction-advertisers-halt-social-media-spending-2020-6-1029350644
It's complex. Needs more than a short term reaction. And like the ppl at M+R said...
'if we didn’t believe that running ads on Facebook would result in making positive change in the world, we would definitely choose a different platform on which to spend our time and effort'

Anyway, capitalism.
