A QUICK THREAD ABOUT #AUDIOBOOKS:

Many readers wonder why indie authors take so long to release audiobooks or don’t do them at all. Here’s a peek behind the curtain.

ELEMENTAL LEGACY is my most popular series by far. Every book has hit the USA Besteller list at full price.
It has a *great* fan base. Blood Apprentice was the last audiobook produced in my most popular series. It has been on sale for just over a year now.

LAST MONTH was the first month it made a profit. That’s how long audiobooks take to earn out the money spent producing them.
Which is not to say that they’re not worth doing! They are. Eventually. But you have to have the time and the money to float that for a year before you start seeing actual income, and many authors just aren’t in a position to do that.
So be kind, be understanding, and realize that just because you WANT to experience a book in a certain format doesn’t mean you have the RIGHT to have that format or that by delaying or not producing that format, the author has bad intentions or isn’t publishing in good faith.
And that is my PSA for today. Off to write now.
