Quick comparative analysis thread: This season Chelsea have had more than 60% possession 18 times. In 10 of those games (55.56%) Chelsea have dropped points In comparison. #MUFC have had more than 60% possession 15 times, they've dropped points in 10 (66.67%) of those
In the games where they've had 60+% possession and dropped points: Chelsea average 0.82 goals/gm and concede 1.90 goals/gm Manchester United average 0.70 goals/gm and concede 1.3 goals/gm #MUFC
These are fairly similar numbers. Only two points separate United and Chelsea in the table yet the media coverage of Lampard compared to Ole is drastically different. #MUFC #CFC
While the numbers are similar there's enough difference (combined with the eye test) to say Chelsea's problem dropping points seems to be more of a defensive issue while United's seems to be more of an attacking issue #MUFC #CFC
If you ask me, Chelsea's is the easier problem to fix (it's easier to stop conceding goals than magically start scoring them). This is what Ole did for United from last year to this year. The question is, does Frank know how to fix it? #MUFC #CFC
Looking at the progress throughout the season suggests one has worked to address this problem and the other hasn't

1st half of season: Games with 60+% poss (games dropped points):
Chelsea: 7 (5) 71.42%
Man Utd: 8 (7) 87.5%

2nd half
#CFC: 8 (5) 62.5%
#MUFC 7 (3) 42.85%
The first picture is what the league table looked like when you woke up on the morning of November 3rd.

The second picture is what the league table looks like since November 3rd #MUFC #CFC
Last season Manchester United had 60+% possession in 12 games (6 under Mourinho, 6 under OGS). They dropped points in 7 of them (58.3%) (4 under Mourinho 66.67%, 3 under OGS 50%).

In those games they averaged 1.14 goals/gm and conceded 1.57 goals/gm #MUFC
The problem wasn't so much a goal scoring problem, but a keeping goals out problem. This is what OGS went to address and by all accounts has done. Now he needs to address the goal scoring aspect, which he seems to be doing #MUFC
In the first half of the season when United had 60+% possession they averaged 1.25 goals/gm

In the second half of the season when having 60+% possession United are averaging 1.86 goals/gm
