A THREAD: Stan and Josh Kronke will be willing to spend money this summer. A deeper dive into their spending habits after hiring a young new coach. How one of KSE’s teams returned to glory and how Arsenal are on a similar path.
Background: The Kroenke family which owns Arsenal runs Kroenke Sports and Entertainment which also owns NFL franchise Los Angeles Rams and NBA Franchise Denver Nuggets.
The Kroenke’s are known to run their franchises in the “self sustaining” model we hear so much about as Arsenal fans. This is consistent throughout the board

The Los Angeles Rams ranked 11th in net cash spending in 2017, despite having one of the most wealthy owners in the NFL.
NFL Free Agency is similar to the European Transfer market. Out of 32 Total teams this is a summary of free agent spending from the years 2015-2017. Records included.

2015- $43,135,017 (20th) (7-9)

2016- $49,651,666 (21st) (4-12)

2017- $93,844,999 (14th) (11-5)
At the end of the 2016-2017 season the Los Angeles rams were 4-12 and made the decision to fire their head coach. The Kroenke’s took a chance on a coach named Sean McVay who was known to be tactically brilliant, but lacked any managerial experience. Sound familiar?
This is where the behavior changes from the Kroenke ownership. After hiring this young coach Sean McVay they decided to back him after completion of his first season. This is where we can begin to get excited.
“The Rams were by far the biggest spenders of the 2018 offseason, bringing in a slew of Pro-Bowl caliber players and locking in more than $300 million worth in contracts to turn themselves into a potential dynasty.” - @businessinsider

The Kroenke’s backed their new young coach 💰
After this spending spree the Rams finished the 2018-2019 season with a record of 13-3 and made it to the Super Bowl.

The Kroenke’s know that when they have spent in the past it has paid off for them. This bodes well for Arsenal fans.
With Arteta having half a season under his belt he has been able to get to know his players, and see which areas of the squad need reinforcement.

Similar to McVay, expect to see Arteta financially backed by the Kroenke’s. When signing, he was assured of summer funds being open.
History has shown that the Kroenke’s are willing to open their pockets with a young coach and vision they believe in.

While I do not know the exact figure available in the market or our targets, history shows us that we have every reason to “Be Excited”.
