@TimScottSC I’ve admired your work on behalf of the American people & hold you in high regard. However any effort to change the names of military installations is unwise. It would be a capitulation worse then kneeling before the insurrectionists. I urge you to abandon the change.
I spent most of my military career at FT Bragg. We paratroopers only know one “Home of the Airborne” I graduated the School of Infantry, Jump School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, & Pathfinder School at FT Benning. Infantrymen know only one home of the Infantry.
When General Grant accepted General Lee’s surrender he would not take his sword as was the custom of a conquering Generals. Rather the two West Point Brothers worked together to heal and unify the United States.
President Lincoln pardoned Confederate Troops because he had the insight to preserve Southern heritage and pride to absorb them into the Union to preserve it. The naming convention of military installations follows President Lincoln’s wise decision to preserve all of our history!
