As ridership rebounds and social distancing becomes harder, the TTC enters a new phase of its recovery plans today. Masks are now mandatory, and all-door boarding, fare box collection on buses has resumed. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/07/02/more-riders-less-distancing-and-a-195-fine-for-no-mask-the-ttcs-next-recovery-phase-starts-thursday.html
Not wearing a mask on the TTC will technically come with a $195 fine, but the agency has said it hopes not to issue fines. That will be revisited if necessary, however.
Ridership continues to return to the bus network at higher rates than the rest of the system. Last week bus ridership hit 37 per cent of pre-COVID levels. Last weekend it hit 43 per cent, which is indication people are starting to resume using transit for discretionary trips.
Subway and streetcar ridership is still at about 18 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
Fare inspectors are also out on the TTC today, but agency says they won't resume issuing fines until mid-July or August.
